Childcare Educator Retention Australia - Enrolment Hub

According to The Spoke, 1 in 5 Early Childhood Educators are planning to leave their position within the next 12 months.

1 IN 5!

That’s a huge issue for the sector.

It’s a huge issue for childcare providers and it’s about to become a huge issue for families who we all know want to see consistency and familiar faces in their child’s care.

So how do you combat this issue?

Enrolment Hub lay down a few strategies to help retain your team – and ultimately retain your families.

5 Strategies to Retain Your Childcare Educator

  1. Survey, Survey, Survey – find out what your team think of working with your business via an anonymous survey. Providing a way for your team to anonymously share what is bothering them or ways to improve your business will allow you to address these concerns while you still have your team. Some of the answers may be tough to take, but actioning real change will hopefully keep your team engaged and with your Service for longer. Our team can help you implement an employee survey, just get in touch.
  2. Stay up to date on industry employment rates – Keep your pulse on what early childhood Educators in your area are being paid, especially if your centre has been around for a long time and your salaries may not have aged well.
  3. Recognition is key – Everyone loves to be recognised for their hard work. Having a tangible reward system gives team members something to go above and beyond to work towards.
  4. Inspire your team – Improve social morale and give your team a chance to unwind together with a fun, social, team-building activity. It will allow them to get to know one another outside of the Service and create memories and bonds that they can reflect on when times get stressful.
  5. Core values – Values provide a clear shared purpose that everyone can rally behind. They also help to define who you are really looking for when hiring team members and serve a reminder for your team.

Team retention is just one of the issue we look to rectify as part of our Service Deep Dive offer. Why not get in touch with the team and let’s put some strategies in place together.
